Frequently Asked Questions

When out on a run what if I can't keep up with the group?

Each group has a team leader who will coordinate the group and ensure that all runners are managing. If for any reason you feel you are struggling the team leader will stay with you or find another member of the group who has your pace to ensure you make it back to the village hall safely.

When I first come along to Frenchay runners how will I know which group to go in?
When you come along for the first time we will spend a few minutes talking to you about what your running ability is, and suggest an appropriate group for you to try.

What if I miss a weeks training?
Absolutely fine. Although coming every week will improve your running ability. We understand that life is busy so come when you can.

What if I get lost on a run?

When you join the club we will ask you to fill in a registration form which will include your mobile number. With your consent we will store your mobile number in our phone which we take out on our runs. We recommend you bring yours too, then if you lose your way you can call us or vice versa and meet up. At the beginning of each run we provide a route for each group. We recommend you take note of your route so you know the way.

I have never run before but really want to start. What if I find I cant do it?
Unless you have a medical condition there is no reason that you can t run. In fact frenchay runners is the place to start. We are a very friendly club. You will have a team leader to help you through and all your team members who have been in the same position as you at some point.  Come along, within weeks you will find you can do it.

What if I am too fast for the group I am running in?
If this is the case we would recommend you move up to the next group. If you happen to be in the advanced group we can cater for your speed!!

I want to train for the bristol half marathon. What would Frenchay runners do to help prepare me for it?
Coming up to any popular running event we will adjust our runs to the needs of those partaking. We will do specific routes in relation to the event. We also do occasional weekend runs to get distance in.
