Frenchay Runners have a power walking session that meets at the slightly earlier time of 6.45pm. The route is two miles long and suitable for anybody starting a exercise programme for the first time.
There are four groups to choose from depending on your running ability. When you first come along to the running club one of our experienced coaches will discuss your running history and help you select an appropriate group for you.
2 Mile Route
Our 2 mile route caters for complete beginners. The routes are generally flat and the pace is as slow as you need to go. This group always has a running leader to help and encourage you along the way. This is a great starting block and many of our members who are new to running use it to build up their fitness levels before they move on to the next group.
3 Mile Route
Our 3 mile route is a great stepping stone. It gives our members the chance to build up their fitness by increasing their distance. Many of our members find this a good place to begin. Each week we provide different routes so you will never get bored!
4 Mile Route
Our 4 mile route is a popular group. The pace can often vary in this group therefore a running leader will always be present. As long as you can run the distance anybody is welcome to join this group.
6 Mile Route
This is the group for established runners. This group is great if you are looking for a challenge and want to improve on pace and distance. It is popular with members who are training for a 10k or half marathon. Many of our members have improved their times from previous years by training in this group.
We do specific training for local 10k and Half Marathon events and make sure all our runners our prepared for the course. This training can includes speed and hill work.
